Media Statement Regarding Mazda CX-3

RICHMOND HILL, ON (Mar. 29, 2022) – As consumer preferences in Canada continue to shift and evolve, Mazda has always shown the ability to move in line with the market demands, building beautiful and well-crafted vehicles that are fun to drive and suit the needs of our customers. With the impending launch of the all-new Mazda CX-50 and other recently announced SUV models from our Large Platform group on the horizon, Mazda Canada has decided to end sales of the CX-3 subcompact crossover at the end of the current 2022 model year.

As one of the pioneers of the subcompact SUV segment in 2015, the Mazda CX-3 proved to be a hit with Canadian customers and helped grow the demand and recognition of our CX-line of SUV models, which now includes the CX-30, CX-5, CX-50, and CX-9. As the segment expanded and matured, customers gravitated to more spacious models, an area now successfully occupied by the CX-3’s newer stablemate, the CX-30.

Mazda Canada will continue to focus on improving our award-winning CX-line of crossover vehicles with new models and growing options that will feature electrification, such as hybrid and plug-in hybrid models including the CX-50 hybrid and CX-90 PHEV. These vehicles will provide the practicality, versatility, and environmental performance that today’s buyers are seeking, paired with Mazda’s signature characteristics of premium design and craftsmanship, excellent driving dynamics, and top safety ratings.

Production of the Mazda CX-3 for the Canadian market will end in May 2022.
