2008 MAZDA CX-9: ZOOM-ZOOM WITH ROOM
– Crossover SUV seats seven in three rows –

(Richmond Hill, ON): The 2008 Mazda CX-9 is a 7-passenger

crossover utility vehicle that embodies distinctive Mazda design cues,

energetic performance, as well as an up-market interior with class

leading space utilization and versatility.

The Mazda CX-9 is one of the longest intermediate crossover

utility vehicles, providing ample room for seven occupants in three

rows of seats. The 60/40 split second row seat carries three people in

comfort, while the 50/50 split third row is class-leading in measurement

and comfort. Even with the third row occupied, the CX-9 provides 487

litres of cargo capacity, eclipsing many large sedan trunks. Both

second- and third-row seats fold flat to allow additional storage, up to

2,851 litres, all the way up to the back of the front seats.

For 2008, the CX-9 gets an all new 3.7-litre, 24-valve V6 engine.

Built by Mazda at the Hiroshima plant, the engine produces 273-

horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 270-lb. ft of torque at 4,250 rpm. Regular

fuel (87 octane) is suitable for use in the CX-9 without power loss.

To combine excellent acceleration and high fuel economy, the

CX-9 includes an Aisin-supplied six-speed automatic transmission with

manual shift mode as standard equipment.

The 2008 CX-9 is offered in two trim grades: GS and GT. Frontwheel

drive is standard on the Mazda CX-9 GS trim and delivers

excellent drivability. Active Torque Split All-Wheel Drive is standard on

the GT model and optional on the GS. The all-wheel drive system uses

a computer-controlled coupling integrated with the rear differential to

deliver up to half the available torque to the rear wheels on demand.

All models include front and rear air conditioning with 3-zone

climate control, power windows, power door locks with remote keyless

entry, cruise control, six airbags, rain sensing windshield wipers, tilt &

telescopic steering wheel, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat,

AM/FM/CD player with 6-speakers, four-wheel ABS, Dynamic Stability

Control, Traction Control, Rollover Stability Control, and a factory

installed towing package that includes a larger cooling fan and

radiator.

The CX-9 GS is equipped with 18-inch aluminium wheels and

tires, halogen headlamps, and cloth upholstery. Stepping up to the GT

grade adds 20-inch aluminium wheels and tires, Xenon (HID)

headlights, fog lights, side turn signals on the outside mirrors, interior

wood grain finish, power-adjustable passenger seat, leather upholstery

with heated front seats, and driver’s seat position memory function.

A power operated moonroof, with one touch open and close

feature, is available as an option on the GS trim, and standard on the

GT model.

There are three option packages available on the GT model to

enhance driver and passenger enjoyment. The Luxury Package

includes an in-dash 6-disc CD changer, premium Bose® audio system

with 10-speakers, Centrepoint® surround sound, AudioPilot® noise

compensation system, Intelligent Key System (keyless entry & start), and

power tailgate. The Navigation Package includes a voice-activated

navigation system with MP3 functionality, rearview camera, and

Bluetooth Hands Free Phone System. As well, Mazda is offering an

optional Rear Entertainment System that includes a 9-inch monitor,

CD/DVD player with audio input jack, Bose 5.1 channel surround sound

system with 11-speakers, two wireless headphones, and a 115V power

outlet.

Among the many standard features on the 2008 CX-9 is a 3-year

roadside assistance program. Customers can feel secure knowing that

wherever they travel throughout North America should the need arise

they can obtain towing, winching, battery boosting, emergency fuel

delivery, and tire changing services. They will even get help if locked

out of the vehicle. Travel planning services and emergency travel

expense reimbursement are included in the roadside assistance

program.

The 2008 CX-9 is covered by a 3-year or 80,000 km vehicle

warranty that covers every part of the vehicle except those subject to

normal wear.

Additional warranties cover powertrain and safety restraint

components for a period of 5 years or 100,000 km, body sheet metal

perforation for 5 years unlimited kilometres and selected emission

control components for 8 years or 128,000 km.
