Mazda Canada announces sales results for June 2013
CX-5 sales continue strong pace with new 2.5L engine

TORONTO, July 3, 2013 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada announced sales for June 2013 today totaling 5,617, which represents a decrease of 24% compared to June 2012. Total year-to-date sales of 35,941 are down by 4% through the first half of 2013.

Sales in June were led by the compact Mazda3, with 3,213 sold. Over 60% of all Mazda3's sold in June were equipped with the fuel-efficient SKYACTIV Technology, which also accounted for 68% of total vehicles sold in June. The 2014 CX-5 is available with a new, more powerful SKYACTIV 2.5L engine featuring 184 horsepower and excellent fuel economy. The new engine choice for the CX-5 helped push sales higher again in June, increasing the year-over-year sales by 24% and up year-to-date 44% compared to 2012.

Mazda used a special event in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Mazda3 and reveal the all-new 2014 Mazda3 last week. Coming to the market in Fall 2013, the new Mazda3 is the third vehicle in the Mazda line-up to feature the alluring KODO design and the full suite of SKYACTIV Technology, including the new 2.5L SKYACTIV-G engine which recently debuted in the Mazda6 and CX-5. The 2014 Mazda3 will also be available with i-ACTIVESENSE safety technology, including Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC), High Beam Control (HBC), and Smart City Brake Support (SCBS).

"SKYACTIV Technology is the cornerstone of our new model line-up, and with the all-new 2014 Mazda3 joining the Mazda6 and CX-5 soon, it is becoming even more prevalent," said David Klan, Senior Director, Sales, Marketing and Regional Operations. "The fully SKYACTIV 2014 Mazda3 is going to re-establish Mazda at the forefront of the compact segment as it did in 2004 when it first debuted."

Pricing and fuel economy have not yet been revealed, and will be announced closer to the on sale date.
