2015 Mazda5: compact people-mover puts the ‘fun’ in functionality
-- Sliding doors and room for six continues to defy segment expectations –

(Richmond Hill, ON): Offering an unmatched combination of performance, functionality, design and packaging since its inception, the 2015 Mazda5 works perfectly for families and flawlessly for those with active lifestyles. With its unique combination of flexible seating arrangements, sliding doors, fuel-efficiency, unexpected handling capability, and stylish design, the Mazda5 is created for people who don’t want to fit into the typical mold.

For 2015, the Mazda5 carries over the features and practicality that have made it so attractive since its complete redesign in 2012.

The Mazda5 is powered by a 2.5L MZR four-cylinder engine that produces 157 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 163 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 RPM for a satisfying driving experience at any speed. Mazda’s MZR engine family is widely regarded as one of the world’s most advanced forms of fuel-efficient, high-energy propulsion.  The MZR 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine featured in the 2015 Mazda5 is a light, compact design that offers higher performance yet better fuel efficiency than the previous generation. The 2015 Mazda5 features a six-speed manual transmission as standard equipment, with an optional five-speed electronically controlled automatic with manual shift mode available on both GS and GT trim levels.

The 2015 Mazda5 is available in two trim levels – GS trim which comes well equipped for $21,950 or the luxurious GT model which starts at $24,545. The Mazda5 GS offers many standard convenience and safety features, such as second row captain’s chairs with recline and sliding functions, rear seat ventilation, power windows with driver’s side auto up/down, automatic climate control, rain-sensing windshield wipers, traction control, and Dynamic Stability Control.

New for 2015, the center row fold-out table/cargo bin/dual cupholders previously available in the GT is now standard equipment across all trim levels. A new GS Moonroof Package (requires Convenience Package) includes a power retractable moonroof, rear backup sensors, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, 6 speakers, and side sill extensions (package deletes front mud flaps).

A Convenience Package is available for the Mazda5 GS that includes: Bluetooth hands-free phone system, Audio Profile, cruise control and steering-wheel mounted cruise controls, trip computer, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an anti-theft alarm system.

The Mazda5 GT takes everything already offered on the GS model and kicks it up a notch.  Still available with a six-speed manual transmission, the Mazda5 GT is equipped with 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels with P205/50R17 all-season tires, tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), leather seating upholstery, heated front seats, lumbar support driver’s seat, leather-wrapped shift knob, rear liftgate spoiler, heated door mirrors, fog lights, Xenon headlights, and body-coloured exterior mirrors with side turn signals.

All 2015 Mazda5’s include a long and impressive list of safety features, including: Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) with Traction Control System (TCS), Electro-Hydraulic Power Assist Steering (EHPAS)  system, “Triple H” body construction, side-impact door beams, crushable brake and accelerator pedal assembly, driver and passenger front airbags, dual front side-impact airbags, and dual front and rear side curtain airbags, and integrated child seat anchor brackets.

The 2015 Mazda5 is also equipped with Mazda’s Brake Override system. This system always prioritizes the brake pedal over the accelerator pedal, should both be engaged simultaneously, allowing the vehicle to be brought to a safe stop every time. Activation of this system is recorded in the electronic Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Beginning in 2015, Mazda’s new Unlimited Mileage Warranty becomes the new standard factory warranty on all Mazda vehicles. The basic warranty for Mazda vehicles covers all parts found to be factory defective for 3 years, regardless of the number of kilometers driven. Additional warranties cover Powertrain components for a period of 5 years, unlimited mileage; body sheet metal perforation for 7 years, unlimited mileage; and roadside assistance for 3 years, unlimited mileage.

With the 3-year roadside assistance program, customers can feel secure knowing that wherever they travel throughout North America they can obtain towing, winching, battery boosting, emergency fuel delivery, and tire changing services if needed. They will even get help if locked out of the vehicle. Travel planning services and emergency travel expense reimbursement are included in the roadside assistance program.
