TORONTO, Sept. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada announced sales for August 2012 today, posting the fourth consecutive month of growth with a total of 6,772 vehicles sold, representing a 4% increase over August 2011.
The Mazda3 led the way for Mazda sales in August with a total of 4,213 sold, bringing the year-to-date total to 28,102. Sales of the Mazda3 were dominated by SKYACTIV Technology, which represented 65% of all Mazda3 sales in August. The popularity of this technology helped boost Mazda3 sales 17% in August, and 10% YTD. Combined with the CX-5 which sold 844 units in August, SKYACTIV vehicles made up 53% of Mazda sales. This shows how important SKYACTIV Technology is for the future of Mazda vehicles, and is a number that will continue to grow and benefit consumers as more vehicles in our line-up receive the full suite of fuel-saving SKYACTIV Technology.
"Our message about SKYACTIV Technology is clearly resonating with Canadian consumers, and as we unveil new products with these benefits, that message will only become stronger," said Kory Koreeda, President, Mazda Canada. "Our new flagship Mazda6 which is coming next year is truly going to be a class-leading vehicle that will represent the very best of what Mazda is capable of bringing to market."
Other vehicles in the Mazda line-up enjoyed sales increases in August as well, such as the CX line of SUV's, which maintained a strong sales pace, selling 1,175 vehicles, which is up 144% over 2011. Sales of the Mazda5 multi-purpose vehicle increased 32% as consumers continue to respond to the benefits of compact footprint, excellent fuel economy, and sliding door-utility.
