Mazda Canada enjoys fifth consecutive month of sales growth
Strong Mazda3 sales contribute to 15% sales increase over September 2011

TORONTO, Oct. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada announced sales for September 2012 today, posting the fifth consecutive month of growth with a total of 6,729 vehicles sold, representing a 15% increase over September 2011.

Mazda3 sales jumped 38% in September with a total of 4,278 sold, bringing the year-to-date total to 32,380. Sales of the Mazda3 were led by SKYACTIV Technology models, which represented 70% of all Mazda3 sales in September. The CX-5, which is Mazda's first fully SKYACTIV vehicle, sold 848 units in September, which means the SKYACTIV-equipped vehicles accounted for 57% of all Mazda vehicles sold in Canada in September. This is the second consecutive month where SKYACTIV Technology has factored into over 50% of Mazda sales in Canada, and sales show no signs of slowing down.

The all-new 2014 Mazda6, which is on display this month at the Paris Motor Show, will be Mazda's second fully SKYACTIV vehicle, and will further increase the dominance of Mazda's SKYACTIV Technology line-up.

"Mazda is committed to bringing the best driving experience to Canadian customers, and this experience includes excellent fuel efficiency, quality vehicle craftsmanship, and dynamic driving excitement behind the wheel," said Vito Paladino, Director, Sales Operations, Mazda Canada. "SKYACTIV Technology allows us to enhance every single part of the thrill of driving, which is what Canadians have come to expect from Mazda vehicles."

Other positive news for September includes the CX line of crossovers, which were up 132% in September thanks to continued strong sales of the new 2013 Mazda CX-5. The current Mazda6 enjoyed a sales increase of 26% in September, and is up 16% year-to-date.
