-- Best November sales since 2007 for Mazda6 --

TORONTO, Dec. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada announced sales for November 2012 today totaling 5,220, which represents an increase of 1% compared to November 2011. Total sales year-to-date are 68,077; up 6% over the previous year.

The biggest sales increases in November belong to the Mazda6 and CX-9, which increased 242% and 14%, respectively. The Mazda3 continues to be the highest volume seller in the Mazda line-up, selling 2,752 vehicles in November, up 9% year-to-date.

SKYACTIV Technology maintains its prominence in Mazda sales, with 56% of all Mazda vehicles sold in November. The Mazda3 with SKYACTIV Technology also dominated the sales figures, representing over 70% of all Mazda3s sold in Canada in November.

Big news for Mazda came out of the Los Angeles Auto Show last week, as Mazda showed the North American-spec 2014 Mazda6, which will be available with a 2.2L SKYACTIV-D clean diesel engine in the second half of 2013. Other news from the Los Angeles Auto Show included the updated 2014 CX-5, which will be available next year with a new 2.5L SKYACTIV-G engine, and the refreshed seven-passenger 2013 CX-9, which now sports the new KODO design language that debuted on the CX-5 this year.

"We are excited to finally be able to announce that our clean diesel technology will soon be joining the Mazda line-up in the all-new 2014 Mazda6," said Kory Koreeda, president, Mazda Canada. "This is a major milestone for Mazda in Canada, and along with the updated CX-5 and CX-9, this is only the beginning of a revolution for Mazda products and technology to come."

Other positive news for November includes the CX line of crossovers, which are still enjoying strong sales increases thanks to continued strong sales by the 2013 Mazda CX-5, which sold 991 units in November. The CX-9 enjoyed its best November since 2008, and sales of the CX line of crossovers are up 106% year-to-date over 2011.
