2012 Mazda CX-7: The Crossover SUV with the Soul of a Sportscar
Sporty handling and everyday practicality makes cx-7 a smart driver’s choice

(Richmond Hill, ON): From the moment it was introduced in 2006 as a 2007 model, the Mazda CX-7 offered a blend of sports car verve and SUV practicality in a way that few other crossover vehicles could. As Mazda’s sportiest entry into the segment, the CX-7 crossover utility vehicle differs from a traditional utility vehicle thanks to its sporty styling and exceptional dynamic performance. Sport mode automatic transmission.

For 2012, the Mazda CX-7 is offered in three trim levels: GX, GS, and GT. The entry-level CX-7 GX model comes with a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder MZR engine – introduced in the 2010 model year – that produces 161 horsepower at 6000 rpm and offers maximum torque of 161 lb-ft at 3500 rpm. Base configuration in the GX is front-wheel drive coupled to a light-weight and efficient, 5-speed automatic transmission with manual-shift 2

mode, and the GS and GT feature all-wheel drive and a 6-speed

Some of the highlights of the standard features on the base GX model are power windows and door locks, air conditioning, retractable key, steering wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Also standard on all CX-7 models is host of safety features including an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD), a skid-reducing Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system, a Traction Control System (TCS), Brake Assist, and dual front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags.

To ensure the driver’s safety always comes first, the 2012 CX-7 is equipped with Mazda’s Brake Override system. This system always prioritizes the brake pedal over the accelerator pedal, should both be engaged simultaneously, allowing the vehicle to be brought to a safe stop. Activation of this system is recorded in the electronic Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

The GS and GT trim levels of the 2012 CX-7 continue to be powered by the award-winning 2.3-litre DISI (Direct Injection Spark Ignition) turbocharged engine, which unlike other high-performance turbo-charged engines, is tuned to run on either regular or premium fuel. Output remains the same with 244 horsepower at 5000 rpm with 258 lb-ft of torque at 2500 rpm. 3

The sole driveline offered with the DISI turbo engine is Mazda’s Active Torque-Split All-Wheel-Drive system, which uses a computer-controlled coupling integrated with the rear differential to deliver up to half the available torque to the rear wheels on demand.

In addition to the DISI turbo engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, and All-Wheel-Drive system, the GS trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels, and dual exhaust outlets.

The only option available on the GX and GS trims is a "Luxury Package", which includes a power moonroof with one-touch open and close feature, leather upholstery and door panel trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, 8-way adjustable power driver's seat and 4-way adjustable power passenger seat, heated seats, a Bluetooth® hands-free phone system with Audio Profile music streaming capability, automatic climate control, and manual lumbar support on driver's seat.

In the top-of-the-line GT trim, the CX-7 is equipped with all of the features included in the GS with Luxury Package, plus: a Blind Spot Monitoring System (BSM), auto dimming mirror with HomeLink, chrome front fog lamps, Xenon HID headlights, piano black interior trim, bright finish on the interior and exterior door handles, side turn lamps on the exterior door mirrors, intelligent key system, memory driver seat, colour Multi-Information Display with rear view camera, SIRIUS satellite radio, 6-disc CD changer with 4

MP3 capability, and a premium Bose® audio sound system with 9 speakers, Centerpoint® surround sound and AudioPilot® noise compensation.

To further support driving pleasure and convenience, a 7-inch touchscreen DVD-based navigation system with MP3 capability, voice commands, and rear-view camera system is available as an option on the GT model.

The Mazda CX-7 GX has a 680 kg (1,500 lbs) towing capacity, while the GS and GT models can tow up to 907 kg (2,000 lbs).

Among the many standard features on the 2012 CX-7 is a 3-year roadside assistance program. Customers can feel secure knowing that wherever they travel throughout North America they can obtain towing, winching, battery boosting, emergency fuel delivery, and tire changing services if needed. They will even get help if locked out of the vehicle. Travel planning services and emergency travel expense reimbursement are included in the roadside assistance program.

The 2012 CX-7 is covered by a 3-year or 80,000 km vehicle warranty that covers every part of the vehicle except those subject to normal wear. Additional warranties cover powertrain and safety restraint components for a period of 5 years or 100,000 km, body sheet metal perforation for 5 years / unlimited kilometres, and selected emission control components for 8 years or 128,000 km. 5
